Post-Concert Report: Collaboration with Spiritus

Rehearsing in St Aloysius RC Church.

Our joint concert last Saturday between Strathclyde University Chamber Choir (SUCC directed by Alan Tavener) and Spiritus Chamber Choir (SCC directed by Tim Shantz) from Calgary was a wonderful opportunity to perform with a delightful group. A highlight of the evening was the appearance of James MacMillan who conducted a selection of his own works including O Radiant Dawn (joint), Videns Dominus (SUCC), and Alpha and Omega (SCC).

The Strathclyde University Chamber Choir also performed Christe qui lux es et dies by Robert White, and together with Spiritus Hymn to the Mother of God by John Tavener, and Ave Maria by Anton Bruckner. Spiritus also gave a moving performance of a variety of works by themselves.

We are grateful to St Aloysius RC Church for allowing us to perform in such an atmospheric venue. All the best to Spiritus on the rest of their tour and especially for the Fleischmann International Trophy Competition in Cork, Ireland.
