Upcoming Concerts May/June 2015

We are in the final stages for preparing for two concerts within a week of each other. The first is a joint concert with a touring Icelandic choir, Selkórinn7.30pm Saturday 30th May 2015 in Cathcart, Weaving the threads of the choral traditionWattPosterFrom May 1765 to the present day, this concert features the music of Handel, Di Lasso, Stanford, Gjeilo, Macmillan and Sir Hugh Roberton’s Orpheus Choir, with Icelandic favourites “Heyr, himna smiður” by Þorkell Sigurbjörnsson and “Ó Guð vors lands” by Sveinbjörn Sveinbjörnsson. This concert is presented by The Institute of Engineers & Shipbuilders in Scotland IESIS, The Strathchamber Trust, Strathclyde University Chamber Choir, and their guests Selkórinn from Iceland. Tickets are £5.

SUCC20150605The following week sees our annual “late evening” West End Festival concert, A Choral Mosaic, 9pm Friday 5th June 2015 in St Peter’s Partick. This concert features a wide range of choral favourites and rarities from the four corners of Europe and spanning four centuries, from John Tavener to Arvo Part, from Rachmaninov to Morales, Palestrina to Ola Gjelio, James MacMillan to Bruckner, Byrd to Vaughan Williams – another exceptional choral feast in an incomparable setting! Tickets are £9.
