York Minster 2016

It was a delight to be back at the Minster, this time for six services from Friday 8 April through to Evensong on Monday 11.  We sang anthems ranging from Tallis (“O nata lux”) and Byrd (“Sing joyfully”) to the music of James MacMillan and Sally Beamish, with lots of CV Stanford and a little MacCunn along the way.  Psalm singing in a cathedral setting is always really special; the “congregation of naughty men” behaved themselves and the “noise of the water pipes” was not too terrible. Moab was our washpot, but no shoes were cast at Edom.

Huge thanks to Alan Tavener for planning the whole programme and drilling us so well, and to David Hamilton for fantastic accompaniment, beautiful voluntaries and great companionship.
