Music for St Valentine, 17/2/2017 and 18/2/2017: The love poetry of Burns, Shakespeare, King Solomon and others, set to music by Edward Bairstow, John Rutter, Hamish MacCunn, Vaughan Williams, George Gershwin and Charles Trenet.
Bach, balletti and Britten, 2/6/2017: Music inspired by the dance, including J S Bach’s Singet dem Herrn, Benjamin Britten’s Choral Dances from Gloriana and the Scottish premiere of Dancing Star* composed by Toby Young. The programme also includes a selection of renaissance choral dances by Thomas Morley, Giovanni Castoldi and Hans Leo Hassler. *Co-commissioned by the Strathchamber Trust for Strathclyde University Chamber Choir.
